Week 9: Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Contest - What Are You Thankful For?It is great that we have a national day of thanksgiving.  It is my favorite holiday.

It is a holiday that reminds us to spend time with our children.  Children grow up so quickly and that time can never be recaptured.  The Thanksgiving holiday reminds us to hug our spouses and significant others, because even a lifetime together will quickly vanish away.

The Thanksgiving holiday reminds us to cherish our friendships.  Sometimes due to the twists and turns of life, we get so “busy” that we don’t spend enough time with our friends.  I was reminded, sadly, earlier this year that good friends will not be around forever.

I am so committed to creating time and financial freedom for myself and my family.  I want more time with my family and friends.  This Master Key Master Mind Alliance (MKMMA) course is helping me to make that happen.  From our reading this week:

Character is not a thing of chance, but it is the result of continued effort. If you are timid, vacillating, self-conscious, or if you are over-anxious or harassed by thoughts of fear or impending danger, remember that is axiomatic that “two things cannot exist in the same place at the same time.”

Exactly the same thing is true in the mental and spiritual world; so that your remedy is plainly to substitute thoughts of courage, power, self-reliance and confidence, for those of fear, lack and limitation.

The easiest and most natural way to do this is to select an affirmation which seems to fit your particular case.

The positive thought will destroy the negative as certainly as light destroys darkness, and the results will be just as effectual.

Parting thought:  Were you very busy in 2014, too busy for friends and family?  Do you think you will be less busy by 2016 if you don’t do something different, starting right now?

Do it now.

I have come so far already.  Today I begin a new life.

It is definitely time to ‘Think and Grow Rich’.

Week 8: Vigilant Guardsman

blog-master-key-blueprintOne of the golden nuggets I have picked up from our Master Key Master Mind Alliance (MKMMA) class:

If we have a closed mind to negative thought, we will succeed in everything.

Our subconscious mind is so powerful.   With our new blueprint, we must be the vigilant guardsman of our subconscious minds.  I have learned that thought is cause; it is all we have to master to improve.

We know from earlier in the course that:

The subconscious can and will solve any problem for us if we know how to direct it. The subconscious processes are always at work; the only question is, are we to be simply passive recipients of this activity, or are we to consciously direct the work? Shall we have a vision of the destination to be reached, the dangers to be avoided, or shall we simply drift?

Let’s look at the example of someone who wants to get rid of some unwanted weight.  Instead of fighting the response (e.g. eating late at night), one can just pick a new stimulus that the subconscious mind will respond to in a way that works for you.  For example, you can watch a quick exercise video clip (even if you have already done your workout for the day) and let that be the stimulus that causes you to drink water instead of eating late at night.   Also, instead of saying ‘I want to lose weight’, or even ‘I want to get rid of some weight’, one could just have the mantra of saying, ‘I make healthy choices 24-7’.  Keep it positive in terms of the direction you give to your subconscious.

Everything we do is a choice, and all choices have consequences.  (I learned this one from my 11th grade English teacher, but it is nice to see it again in this course.)

More golden nuggets from our readings and discussions:

Work is necessary – labor, hard mental labor, the kind of effort which so few are willing to put forth.

Then comes the process of visualization. You must see the picture more and more complete, see the detail, and, as the details begin to unfold the ways and means for bringing it into manifestation will develop. One thing will lead to another.  Thought will lead to action, action will develop methods, methods will develop friends, and friends will bring about circumstances, and, finally, the third step, or Materialization, will have been accomplished.

I can be what I will to be.

On our weekly team call, I got this golden nugget that really resonates with me:  When you procrastinate, you give your problems to your future self.

I love my future self, so I definitely don’t want to give him any problems.  The key is to ‘DO IT NOW’.   I really enjoyed saying this to myself 25 times today.   And I am getting stuff done.

And I definitely have to stay out of the media.  I went to a news website on Wednesday, and there was a headline about a “Massacre in Jerusalem”.   An awful tragedy.   I truly hope it does not lead to more tragedy.  I also know that I have to focus on the new amazing reality I am creating for my family.

I am still working on not complaining (see Week 7 blog).  I must say that driving into Manhattan today, I did have a few negative thoughts with respect to traffic and pedestrians.

If we have a closed mind to negative thought, we will succeed in everything.

I have come so far already.  Today I begin a new life.

It is definitely time to ‘Think and Grow Rich’.

Week 7: No Complaints

Blog-complainingFrom this week’s readings:

I cannot be healthy; I cannot be happy; I cannot be prosperous; if I have a bad disposition. If I am sulky, or surly, or cynical, or depressed, or superior, or frightened half out of my wits, my life cannot possibly be worth living. Unless I am determined to cultivate a good disposition, I may as well give up all hope of getting anything worthwhile out of life and it is kinder to tell me very plainly that this is the case.

I am working on not complaining.  No complaints.  On Monday I complained about sports and sports coverage.  On Tuesday I complained about work.  On Friday I complained about airport security inefficiencies.  There were other times that I complained this week.  I have a lot of work to do before I can go a full week without complaining.

But, even I as have failures of performance in terms of going a full week without complaining, I am nonetheless complaining less.   I am happy and I have had a great week overall in my network marketing business, and in general.   I am much more aware of almost everyone complaining around me.  I am more able than ever to avoid getting caught up in their complaints and drama.

More from the readings:

In short, if I want to make my life happy and worthwhile, which is what God wishes me to make it, I must begin immediately to train myself in the habit of thought selection and thought control. This will be exceedingly difficult for the first few days, but if I persevere I will find that it becomes rapidly easier, and it is actually the most interesting experiment that I could possibly make. In fact, this thought control is the most thrillingly interesting hobby that anyone could take up.  I will be amazed at the interesting things that I learn about myself, and I will get results from the beginning.

For seven days I must not allow myself to dwell for a single moment on any kind of negative thought.  When negativity begins to creep in, I must replace that thought with something positive, something that works in my favor.  I usually choose this thought, an excerpt from my statement of Definite Major Purpose:   I am elated to be a Servant Leader who knows, goes and shows the way, and because of this I am very wealthy for life.

My Coach Mark J shared this video to help us change course, stopping the negative thoughts and the complaining.  Watch it, it is educational and funny:

I have come so far already.  Today I begin a new life.

It is definitely time to ‘Think and Grow Rich’.

Week 6: With Love in My Heart

Ignite-The-Greatest-Salesman-in-the-WorldFrom Scroll II in Og Mandino’s Book:  I will greet this day with love in my heart. For this is the greatest secret of success in all ventures. Muscle can split a shield and even destroy life but only the unseen power of love can open the hearts of men and until I master this art I will remain no more than a peddler in the market place. I will make love my greatest weapon and none on whom I call can defend against its force.

In our Master Key Master Mind Alliance (MKMMA) class, we have now moved on to reading Scroll II for the month of November.  Just as I got a lot out of repeatedly reading Scroll I, I am already getting a big boost in my life from Scroll II.  For example, in my business, it doesn’t matter if I have a great and obvious way for my customers to save on electricity or mobile phone service that my potential customer is unable to understand.  I simply handle it with love.

My reasoning they may counter; my speech they may distrust; my apparel they may disapprove; my face they may reject; and even my bargains may cause them suspicion; yet my love will melt all hearts liken to the sun whose rays soften the coldest clay.

I love my potential business partners, even if they don’t join my team for now, or ever.  My efforts are all about helping them achieve the better outcome that they desire.  I have freedom and autonomy in my life as I proudly provide service and create productive leaders in my organization.  I provide exceptional training materials, personal training, and hands-on assistance as I recruit and develop successful leaders who are creating their own amazing realities.  I am elated to be a Servant Leader who knows, goes and shows the way, and because of this I am very wealthy for life.

Today I am reflecting on, among other things, the end of the Civil Rights Era.  One advantage that Atlanta had in the early 1970s, compared to the rest of the South, was that business and political leaders – both Black and White – decided that Atlanta was “The City That is Too Busy to Hate”.  They must have read Scroll II:

I will greet this day with love in my heart. Henceforth will I love all mankind. From this moment all hate is let from my veins for I have not time to hate, only time to love. From this moment I take the first step required to become a man among men. With love I will increase my sales a hundred-fold and become a great salesman. If I have no other qualities I can succeed with love alone. Without it I will fail though I possess all the knowledge and skills of the world.

I have come so far already.  Today I begin a new life.

It is definitely time to ‘Think and Grow Rich’.
