Sometimes we are told to just “step out of our Comfort Zone” to achieve success. In reality, that doesn’t really work. A more realistic view is to EXPAND our Comfort Zone, day-by-day and inch-by-inch.
Most people choose comfort over perceived risk. We are then left with the life we currently have, and for many people that is not pretty. The “Comfort Zone” will control us until we choose to control it.
Our MKMMA course is really thought provoking. Here are the components (the walls) of the Comfort Zone that often constrain us. Imagine they are trapping you inside a 5-sided fence:
- Hurt Feelings
- Anger (sadness is related, sadness is often just anger turned inward)
Remember, you and your DNA have survived the ages. You have the genetic make-up to improve.
When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.
These five constraints that keep us in the “Comfort Zone” are actually the tools to use to manifest your new blueprint (using the Law of Dual Thought), and achieve your major goals. We are now using these tools to change; it is challenging mental labor. Let’s address each of them.
Fear is a tool that can be positive. It gives us enormous amounts of energy. The first step is to remember gratitude; we should be grateful for fear. When you are really fearful, your concentration is intense. All distractions are eliminated. Fear converts thoughts into actions. Fear gives us the energy and focus to do our best. We let go of things that are not important. Imagine being able to summon that state of mind and being able to direct it at our major goals.
Hurt Feelings can be a positive tool. Acknowledge that you must actually care if you have hurt feelings. For example, let’s say you want to use a Network Marketing business to get financial freedom, or for your kids to go across the stage at college graduation 100% debt free. If you get a “NO” from a potential recruit, remind yourself that you only have hurt feelings because you deeply care about your kids walking across stage at college graduation 100% debt free. Use the Law of Substitution. Be grateful for the occasional rejections to remind you how much you care. You can also use the Law of Substitution to remind yourself that your friends are not rejecting you; they just don’t see your Network Marketing business as a match for their own needs for right now. We can still love our friends, and we can still focus on our business success.
Anger can be a positive tool. Anger is actually energy, and by the way, sadness is actually anger turned inward. Use the Laws of Substitution and Dual Thought. Normally, people can only hold a thought for an average of 6 seconds. When you are angry, notice the energy and the sustained focus. You can use the anger toward your major goals, instead of a reason to stop. There is an old quote from hundreds of years ago, that Frank Sinatra later made famous, “The best revenge is living well.” If you are angry, get yours by taking positive action and being successful.
Guilt can be a positive tool. When you feel guilty about not completing some task to advance our major goals, we should feel good. It means that we know what to do, and that we have the skills and ability to do it. Ask yourself, “What am I in fear of?” Emerson taught that if we do the thing we fear, the death of fear is certain. You already know from the previous paragraphs how to deal with fear. Let go of the need to be right (or wrong). Don’t berate yourself or judge yourself, remember you are Nature’s Greatest Miracle. Don’t beat up yourself for your mistakes. When you do bad things, it does not make you a bad person. Guilt is a confirmation of your goodness.
Feeling Unworthy can be a positive tool. You actually are worthy, so you can have anything you want. You just can’t have everything at the same time! You are no longer a child who wants to be a cowboy, pro athlete, school teacher, astronaut, fireman and king or queen. You must choose! The things you want have a price and they take time. Do you want to be a network marketing top earner, parent of the year, caregiver for your elderly parents, community leader, youth soccer coach, a triathlete, AND a leader in your local religious congregation? Don’t overfill your plate, which leads to no results and eventually feeling unworthy. Have the humility to choose your priorities, and then be committed to your choice.
Make a choice to use these five things as positive tools, instead of things to hold you back. It takes determination and practice. You want to EXPAND your Comfort Zone, day-by-day, just a few inches at a time. Soon you will be accomplishing your major goals.
Another Quote: The purpose of life is to discover your gift. The work of life is to develop it. The meaning of life is to give your gift away.
These days I always ask myself, “What would the person I intend to become do next?”
I am elated to be a Servant Leader who knows, goes and shows the way, and because of this I am very wealthy for life.
I have come so far already. Today I begin a new life. It is definitely time to ‘Think and Grow Rich’.
