Week 24 – Master Key 2018: Don’t Trust Those Feelings

Lillie Thomas Monica - Ignition 2017Today I will be master of my emotions.  It is one of nature’s tricks, little understood, that each day I awaken with moods that have changed from yesterday. Yesterday’s joy will become today’s sadness; yet today’s sadness will grow into tomorrow’s joy. Inside me is a wheel, constantly turning from sadness to joy, from exultation to depression, from happiness to melancholy. Like the flowers, today’s full bloom of joy will fade and wither into despondency, yet I will remember that as today’s dead flower carries the seed of tomorrow’s bloom so, too, does today’s sadness carry the seed of tomorrow’s joy.

The words above are from Scroll VI in Og Mandino’s The Greatest Salesman in the World.  My takeaway from this Scroll is that we can’t trust our “feelings” – when it comes to taking action on the tasks to accomplish our goals.

Let’s say you are committed to making $100K per year in your business.  To achieve that, you decide that you need to actually talk to at least 20 potential customers or business partners each week, or roughly four per day.  Assume that you have to, on average, make 10 “dials” (not everyone is going to answer the phone) to reach the four people per day.  Some days you are tired, so you may not “feel” like making the 10 “dials”.  Some days you are busy, so you may not “feel” like making the 10 “dials”.  Some days you are sad, so you may not “feel” like making the 10 “dials”.  Some days you are fearful, so you may not “feel” like making the 10 “dials”.

It doesn’t matter how you “feel”.  What matters is what you are committed to achieving!

Ignite-The-Greatest-Salesman-in-the-WorldIn fact, if you let your ACTIONS lead your feelings, you will get the task done, and then you will “feel” better in the end.   More from Og Mandino:

Today I will be master of my emotions.  And how will I master these emotions so that each day will be productive?  For unless my mood is right the day will be a failure. Trees and plants depend on the weather to flourish but I make my own weather, yea I transport it with me. If I bring rain and gloom and darkness and pessimism to my customers then they will react with rain and gloom and darkness and pessimism and they will purchase naught. If I bring joy and enthusiasm and brightness and laughter to my customers they will react with joy and enthusiasm and brightness and laughter and my weather will produce a harvest of sales and a granary of gold for me.

And how will I master my emotions so that every day is a happy day, and a productive one? I will learn this secret of the ages: Weak is he who permits his thoughts to control his actions; strong is he who forces his actions to control his thoughts. Each day, when I awake, I will follow this plan of battle before I am captured by the forces of sadness, self-pity and failure.   If I feel depressed, I will sing.  If I feel sad, I will laugh.  If I feel ill, I will double my labor.   If I feel fear, I will plunge ahead.   If I feel uncertain, I will raise my voice.  If I feel insignificant, I will remember my goals.

Strong is he who forces his actions to control his thoughts.  Knowing these things, we now have a choice.

From this moment I am prepared to control whatever personality awakes in me each day. I will master my moods through positive action and when I master my moods, I will control my destiny.  Today I control my destiny, and my destiny is to become the greatest salesman in the world!  I will become master of myself. I will become great.

These days I always ask myself, “What would the person I intend to become do next?”

I am elated to be a Servant Leader who knows, goes and shows the way, and because of this I am very wealthy for life.

I have come so far already.  Today I begin a new life.  It is definitely time to ‘Think and Grow Rich’.

Week 23 – Master Key 2018: Expanding Our Comfort Zone

Hawaii 2017Sometimes we are told to just “step out of our Comfort Zone” to achieve success.  In reality, that doesn’t really work.  A more realistic view is to EXPAND our Comfort Zone, day-by-day and inch-by-inch.

Most people choose comfort over perceived risk.  We are then left with the life we currently have, and for many people that is not pretty.  The “Comfort Zone” will control us until we choose to control it.

Our MKMMA course is really thought provoking.  Here are the components (the walls) of the Comfort Zone that often constrain us.  Imagine they are trapping you inside a 5-sided fence:

  1. Fear
  2. Guilt
  3. Unworthiness
  4. Hurt Feelings
  5. Anger (sadness is related, sadness is often just anger turned inward)

Remember, you and your DNA have survived the ages.  You have the genetic make-up to improve.

When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.

blog-Comfort-ZoneThese five constraints that keep us in the “Comfort Zone” are actually the tools to use to manifest your new blueprint (using the Law of Dual Thought), and achieve your major goals.  We are now using these tools to change; it is challenging mental labor.  Let’s address each of them.

Fear is a tool that can be positive.  It gives us enormous amounts of energy.  The first step is to remember gratitude; we should be grateful for fear.  When you are really fearful, your concentration is intense.  All distractions are eliminated.  Fear converts thoughts into actions.  Fear gives us the energy and focus to do our best.  We let go of things that are not important.  Imagine being able to summon that state of mind and being able to direct it at our major goals.

Hurt Feelings can be a positive tool.  Acknowledge that you must actually care if you have hurt feelings.   For example, let’s say you want to use a Network Marketing business to get financial freedom, or for your kids to go across the stage at college graduation 100% debt free.   If you get a “NO” from a potential recruit, remind yourself that you only have hurt feelings because you deeply care about your kids walking across stage at college graduation 100% debt free.   Use the Law of Substitution.  Be grateful for the occasional rejections to remind you how much you care.  You can also use the Law of Substitution to remind yourself that your friends are not rejecting you; they just don’t see your Network Marketing business as a match for their own needs for right now.   We can still love our friends, and we can still focus on our business success.

Anger can be a positive tool.  Anger is actually energy, and by the way, sadness is actually anger turned inward.   Use the Laws of Substitution and Dual Thought.  Normally, people can only hold a thought for an average of 6 seconds.  When you are angry, notice the energy and the sustained focus.  You can use the anger toward your major goals, instead of a reason to stop.  There is an old quote from hundreds of years ago, that Frank Sinatra later made famous, “The best revenge is living well.”  If you are angry, get yours by taking positive action and being successful.

Guilt can be a positive tool.  When you feel guilty about not completing some task to advance our major goals, we should feel good.  It means that we know what to do, and that we have the skills and ability to do it.  Ask yourself, “What am I in fear of?”   Emerson taught that if we do the thing we fear, the death of fear is certain.  You already know from the previous paragraphs how to deal with fear.  Let go of the need to be right (or wrong).  Don’t berate yourself or judge yourself, remember you are Nature’s Greatest Miracle.  Don’t beat up yourself for your mistakes.   When you do bad things, it does not make you a bad person.  Guilt is a confirmation of your goodness.

Feeling Unworthy can be a positive tool.  You actually are worthy, so you can have anything you want.  You just can’t have everything at the same time!  You are no longer a child who wants to be a cowboy, pro athlete, school teacher, astronaut, fireman and king or queen.  You must choose!  The things you want have a price and they take time.  Do you want to be a network marketing top earner, parent of the year, caregiver for your elderly parents, community leader, youth soccer coach, a triathlete, AND a leader in your local religious congregation?  Don’t overfill your plate, which leads to no results and eventually feeling unworthy.  Have the humility to choose your priorities, and then be committed to your choice.

Make a choice to use these five things as positive tools, instead of things to hold you back.  It takes determination and practice.  You want to EXPAND your Comfort Zone, day-by-day, just a few inches at a time.  Soon you will be accomplishing your major goals.

Another Quote:  The purpose of life is to discover your gift.  The work of life is to develop it.  The meaning of life is to give your gift away.

Week 21 – Master Key 2018: Success is the Best Revenge

MS-150-2015bFirst of all, I have started training for the MS150 for the 10th straight year, cycling Houston to Austin in April to fight Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  Your donations in any amount are appreciated.

Now, three questions to ponder as we sometimes delay the success that is ours to claim:

What am I pretending not to know?

What would the person I intend to become do next?

When will I begin?

This Master Key Master Mind Alliance (MKMMA) course is really delivering results.  An item from previous readings from Hannel:

Try to realize that the day is fast approaching — its dawn is now at hand — when modes of thought and action must be adjusted to rapidly increasing knowledge of the operation of eternal principles.

Weeks ago, we were exposed to the John Wooden Pyramid of Success.  Coach Wooden, of course, is the Hall of Fame basketball coach who won 10 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championships with UCLA.  Wooden stated that, “Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best you are capable of becoming.”

I have been working on the virtue of Industriousness, which is one that was also highlighted by American patriot Ben Franklin.  I have now added Enthusiasm and Competitive Greatness.

Wooden described Industriousness, “Very hard work, but hard work is not enough. It must be ignited, lit afire by something that will raise it to the extraordinary level required for success. That ‘something’ is your Enthusiasm which infuses hard work with inspired power that all great competitors have.  Competitive Greatness is having a real love for the hard battle knowing it offers the opportunity to be at your best when your best is required.”

Often people feel trapped by fear, guilt, unworthiness, anger/sadness, and hurt feelings.  Those feelings are used as ‘reasons’ for not taking the actions they know they need to be successful.  But some people have learned that those very feelings can be the tools that can spur us on to success.  More on that in the next few weeks.  Stay tuned!

Week 14 – Master Key 2018: Some Gifts Mean More Than Others

Family - Dec 2017Merry Christmas!   Happy Hanukkah!  Happy Kwanzaa!  Happy New Year!

This will be the last Christmas that I will be taller than my son.

This will be the last Christmas before my wife gets a wonderful hero — a living kidney donor.

As I begin 2018, the greatest lap around the sun of my entire life (so far), I carry no resentments from the past.  I have learned from my past, but the past will not hinder me.  I forgive everyone.  I ask for forgiveness from all.

I am the architect of my future self and the future reality for me and my family, and that wonderful future is pulling me forward into action.

I am reminded of the some of the words of Og Mandino in The Greatest Salesman in the World:

Thus a new and good habit is born, for when an act becomes easy through constant repetition it becomes a pleasure to perform and if it is a pleasure to perform it is man’s nature to perform it often. When I perform it often it becomes a habit and I become its slave and since it is a good habit this is my will.

What habits enable me to build a huge money-making team?   First, I set appointments daily by making calls and/or having conversations using skilled words I have learned from my mentor.  Secondly, I show the short company business plan video during those appointments.  Finally, I just collect a decision (Customer or Associate, it is their choice).   All I do is repeat those three steps.  It is simple.  Like a basketball player with a nearly unlimited daily supply of balls and no shot clock, I just keep shooting, with persistence.   And my shooting percentage increases monthly, which makes it a joy to take even more shots.

The more people I talk to, the more money I make.

I am elated to be a Servant Leader who knows, goes and shows the way, and because of this I am very wealthy for life.

I have come so far already.  Today I begin a new life.

It is definitely time to ‘Think and Grow Rich’.

Week 11 – Master Key 2018: Positive Signs of Finding a Hero

Nikki Kendall Josh - Dec 2017My wife has dealt with dialysis for over two years due to a hereditary condition called Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD).  Her journey has been well documented at www.KidneyForNikkiBrooks.com.  As we start the holiday season, I am grateful to know that success is everywhere.  As we anticipate the appearance of our hero — a living kidney donor — I know that there is an abundance of success around us.

In general, sometimes we don’t have success it is because we are actually blocking it.  Often it is our own resentments that block the flow of divine energy.

We tend to be fascinated with how things like mobile phones and remote controls work.  Why are we often not fascinated about learning how our minds work?   Our minds are a much greater mechanism.

From our MKMMA readings:

The truth must be told to each generation and to people in new and different terms, so that when the Great Teacher said — “Believe that ye receive and ye shall receive” or, when Paul said — “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” or, when modern science says — “The law of attraction is the law by which thought correlates with its object”, each statement when subjected to analysis, is found to contain exactly the same truth. The only difference being in the form of presentation.

Like attracts like in the mental world.  Our faith is manifest through the Law of Attraction.  One of the best-selling books of all-time is Think and Grow Rich.   Notice that the first word of the title is THINK.

When you know that you know that you always keep your promises (especially to yourself), you will have self-confidence beyond measure.

Who wants to wake up every morning needing to ‘overcome fear’?   No one does.   The idea is to eliminate fear completely.   When you keep the promises you made to yourself, it becomes a successful habit.  You can start with writing down small tasks and creating the habit of doing them without fail.  You can start with organizing your office, or any normal task, by a specific date.  Before you know it you are effortlessly completing a so-called ‘bigger’ task such as making 10 calls per day to grow your network marketing business.  Your subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between small/easy tasks and big/hard tasks.  You create a habit of actually doing everything you write down.

Fear eliminated.

Persistence is not a characteristic.  Peristence is a habit.  Know that ‘not quitting’ is not the same as Persistent Action.  And Persistent Action is easier once fear has been eliminated.  To have the Persistent Action you need for success (including wealth creation), you will need:  (1) A definite major purpose (DMP) backed by a burning desire, (2) A written plan of action (WPOA) expressed in continuous action, (3) A positive mental attitude (PMA), with your mind closed to all negative thought, and (4) a Master Mind Alliance, such as the course I am in, or it can be communication with an individual or group with whom you are in total harmony.

Success = DMP (Definite Major Purpose) + PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) + WPOA (Written Plan of Action) + MMA (Master Mind Alliance)

Check this out this video example of a Positive Mental Attitude:

I am elated to be a Servant Leader who knows, goes and shows the way, and because of this I am very wealthy for life.

It is definitely time to ‘Think and Grow Rich’.

Week 3 – Master Key 2018: Control Your Thoughts, Control Your Destiny

Trey and Thomas“As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.”

― Henry David Thoreau

I control my thoughts.  Thus, I control my destiny.

As I work on my business during our launch of electricity services in the Chicago area, I am mindful of my thoughts.   The world within (my thoughts) creates the world without (the business success I am creating).

Our subconscious mind is so powerful.  Our conscious mind is much less powerful, but it is the guardian of the subconscious mind.   By making the choice to appropriately ‘program’ our subconscious mind, we tap into Infinite Power.   We can accomplish virtually anything.  We can ask the Universe for anything.

When you find that you are really one with the Infinite power, and when you can consciously realize this power by a practical demonstration of your ability to overcome any adverse condition by the power of your thought, you will have nothing to fear; fear will have been destroyed and you will have come into possession of your birthright.
― Charles Haanel, The Master Key System

I control my thoughts.

For our Master Key Mastermind Alliance (MKMMA) course, we have written and updated our individual Definite Major Purpose (DMP) statements.   I have charged it with feeling and enthusiasm.

Change Your ThoughtsA Small Fragment from My Own DMP:  My Definite Major Purpose is a “Life by Design”, with a happy balance of work, play, workouts, and family.

I control my thoughts.

All fear is sloth-based.  I am industrious and enthusiastic.  I do the work.

The world within controls the world without.  Thus, the riskiest thing we can do in our entire lives is to fail to commit 100% to controlling our thoughts.

Another Small Fragment from My Own DMP:  I am elated to be a Servant Leader who knows, goes and shows the way, and because of this I am very wealthy for life.

I have come so far already.  Today I begin a new life.

It is definitely time to ‘Think and Grow Rich’.

Week 2 – Master Key 2018: It is October. How Are You Doing on Those New Year’s Resolutions?

Kendall - 6th Grade - Sept 2017A majority of mankind lives in the world without; few have found the world within, and yet it is the world within that makes the world without; it is therefore creative and everything which you find in your world without has been created by you in the world within.

The words above are from The Master Key System by Charles Haanel, referring to our mind as the ‘world within’.  The ‘world without’ would include things like money, possessions, position, etc.

Harmony within is the ability to control our thoughts and determine how any experience is to affect us.  We can be the observer; we can observe and choose the effect.  This is the Law of Dual Thought, which lets you decide how you want to feel about any situation.  You can default to a feeling, or you can select a feeling.  You must be the observer of yourself.  Isn’t it cool that you can decide how to feel?

In this Master Key Master Mind Alliance (MKMMA) course, we have been refining our individual statement of Definite Major Purpose (DMP).  We want to plant the seed of our DMP (Dharma) in our subconscious.  Dharma is to live a life with purpose, of purpose and on purpose.  In this course we are focusing 100% effort on controlling our own thoughts.  If you do that, you win.  Remember, the world without is a reflection of the world within.  So there can be no greater priority than to control our thoughts.

If our DMP is in alignment with our own heart’s desire, then it is correct.  This leads to believed expectation.  That leads to earnest desire.  Desire leads to firm demand on the Universe to manifest what you want.

What is it that you really want?  I am not talking about what your spouse or parents or friends want for you.  Is it as clear as an architect’s blueprint?  You want to put the billions of synaptic connections of subconscious activity to work for you.  This is the mysterious source that never sleeps, working for you 24/7.  It is also known as your subconscious mind.

Not knowing what you really want is the biggest reason people have problems.

You don’t want to just set ‘goals’, because we have already taught our subconscious for years that it is OK to quit on some goals.   It is now October.  How are you doing on your New Year’s Resolutions you made back in January?

Living life backwards is looking at the methods to determine intention.  We’ve trained our mind backwards.  This is tragic on many levels.  For example, let’s say you want to go to Hawaii for 2 weeks with your family and you determinate that it will cost $7000.   If the method is not readily available (no money in bank account), you may determine that you can’t go.  And over the years and decades, you determine that you can’t dream big.  Tragic!

When we dream initially, we need to have ZERO regard for available methods.  Think about the life you want.  When we charge our DMP with feeling, the subconscious mind can go to work.

Think of the subconscious mind as a fertile plot of land.  The land does not care what you plant.  For example, a farmer can plant seed for food, or seed for hemlock (a poison).  Similarly, you will reap what you sow in your subconscious.  You are the farmer creating your future in the world within.  You can use The Master Key System and the book The Greatest Salesman in the World to help till your soil.

As an entrepreneur, sometimes I feel tired as I put in the work to manifest my DMP.  Of course, it doesn’t matter how I ‘feel’.   Frankly, we can’t trust our feelings.   It is much more about what we are committed to.  A big part of my Definite Major Purpose (DMP) is a “Life by Design”, with a happy balance of work, play, workouts, and family.   Among other things, with my Stream business I am creating a LEGACY of passive monthly income for my daughter, pictured above.

The feeling of being overwhelmed while working toward your DMP is your subconscious (old blueprint) telling you to quit; you must overrule it and reprogram your subconscious.  Do it now!

I am elated to be a Servant Leader who knows, goes and shows the way, and because of this I am very wealthy for life.

I have come so far already.  Today I begin a new life.

It is definitely time to ‘Think and Grow Rich’.
